What “cylinder only” means technically

The door is already open or you have access — nobody is locked out. We fit a new profile cylinder and take the old one away if you wish. Opening a slammed-shut or locked door is not included in this fixed price. If you are locked out, the fixed prices for door opening (slammed shut / locked) or for door opening with a new cylinder apply. This page does not include those.

What 89 € includes

Included: travel in the Ludwigsburg service area and surroundings, fitting, standard profile cylinder. On the phone we quote 89 € before we set off. Not included: high-security cylinder surcharge, multipoint locking, door opening, drilling. Longer extra travel outside the service area beforehand as its own fixed price.

When this daytime price applies

Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm (German time), except public holidays in Baden-Württemberg. Nights, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: 119 € — see our night page for cylinder changes. Fitting a cylinder after a door opening during the same visit costs 49 € (excl. material) — that is a different service and does not replace this cylinder-change-only package.

Lock change in your town: no cylinder place/postcode geo

We deliberately create no /zylinderwechsel-{ort}-ikeytz or /zylinderwechsel-{plz}-ikeytz pages. Such doorways would be thin copies of the same offer and risk duplicate content. Process from call to change

You confirm access to the door, address or postcode, and whether a standard or high-security cylinder is needed. We quote 89 € (surcharge if any). Only then do we drive. On site: identity/access check, removal, fitting, function test. No opening charge in this fixed price.

How this differs from door opening and from door opening with a new cylinder

Moving into a new flat or a house you have bought

When you move in, you rarely know how many keys the previous tenant or the seller ever had. Perhaps the former neighbour still has one, perhaps a former cleaner. A new cylinder on moving-in day brings clarity: from then on, only your keys exist. It is best to plan the appointment before the furniture arrives. Then there are no boxes in the way, and the door is easy to reach.

A key was never returned

The babysitter has moved away, the ex-flatmate no longer gets in touch, or the tradesperson has mislaid the borrowed key. Cases like these are not an emergency, but an uneasy feeling remains. A planned change at the daytime price is the right fit here. You choose an appointment that suits your daily routine, for example during a quiet hour in the morning. The door is open, so there is no time pressure.

When the key has been stiff for a while

A key that sticks, only turns if you handle it carefully or is hard to pull out is often a sign of a problem to come. Do not wait until it gets stuck in the lock or breaks off. Otherwise a change you could have planned may turn into a door opening. Please do not spray oil or grease into the lock, as it attracts dust. In this situation, a change while the door is open is the calmer way.

What to tell us on the phone

A few details help us prepare the appointment well. Is it about the flat door, the front door of the house or a side door? How many keys do you need? Would you like a standard cylinder, or rather a security cylinder at an extra cost of typically 25–70 €? Also give us your town, street and floor. You do not need to measure the door yourself; that is done at the appointment. So there is no need for a folding ruler.

One key for several doors

Some people would like a single key to lock the front door, the basement and the garage. That is more than a simple cylinder change and falls under the heading of master key systems. There is no list price for this. We tell you the fixed price on the phone beforehand, so that you can compare and decide calmly. For the individual flat door, the familiar daytime price with a standard cylinder still applies. Both can also be done one after the other.

Keeping the old cylinder

In a rented flat, the fitted cylinder often belongs to the landlord. So check with them beforehand whether you may change it. Many tenants keep the old cylinder together with its keys, clearly labelled, in the basement. When they move out, it can then be refitted or handed back. That avoids arguments at the handover of the flat. Also make a note of when you changed it and how many new keys there are.

Before a sale or when someone needs care

Relatives often call us too. Their mother is moving into a care home, and the flat is to be cleared. Or a house is being sold, and many helpers had keys. A new cylinder gives you back the overview. Important: whoever orders the change must be entitled to do so. Have suitable documents ready for this, for example a power of attorney. Exactly what is needed is something you should clarify with the people involved.

Is the cylinder included in the price of 89 €?

Yes. Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm, the change costs 89 € with the door open, and a standard cylinder is included. Only a security cylinder costs extra.

Do I have to be at home for the appointment?

Yes, please. Before the change we check that you are entitled to it, for example with your ID card or passport or your tenancy agreement. You should also try out the new keys yourself straight away and take them from us in person.

What does the change cost on a Saturday?

On Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and Monday to Friday between 6 pm and 8 am, the cylinder change costs 119 € with the door open, again with a standard cylinder included.
