Prices – locksmith Ludwigsburg

Separate: 1) door opening, 2) optional cylinder fitting, 3) day vs night/WE/holiday total, 4) material & hard cases extra.

What the difference looks like

Diagram: latched door (latch only) versus locked door (deadbolt)
Latched = latch only · locked = deadbolt – how to pick the right price table.

Only the lock state counts – not whether anyone is home or where the key is. Slam-lock = only the spring latch holds. Locked = the deadbolt is out (door was locked). Opening ≠ replacing the cylinder.

Step 1

Door opening only

Get inside only. No cylinder change in this price. Travel in the service area included.

Technology, standards & materials

Fixed prices apply to standard flat doors. Technical background and standards-compliant replacement parts below.

Slam-lock = latch only

The door latched shut; the deadbolt is not thrown. Only the spring latch holds. Opening with latch wire, spatula or needle in the rebate – without picking the cylinder. Often a few minutes.

Locked = bolt via the cylinder

The deadbolt is thrown. Latch tools alone will not work. Work on the profile cylinder: picking, electric pick or similar non-destructive methods until the plug turns and the bolt retracts.

Profile cylinder: DIN EN 1303 / DIN 18252

Classification includes key security and attack resistance (position 8: classes 0 / A–D or 1–2). Tests cover drilling and core pulling (e.g. 10–15 kN on higher classes). Typical apartment cylinders sit in the lower to mid range – that is why the opening packages are fixed.

Security furniture DIN 18257 & multi-point locks

Security furniture (e.g. ES1/ES2, often with cylinder cover/pull protection) and multi-point locks with several bolts raise the effort. That is not the standard apartment case – no automatic website price; we quote a separate fixed price before continuing.

Security pins & non-destructive first

Anti-pick pins (mushroom, spool, serrated) make setting the shear line harder. Still: non-destructive first. Drilling, core pulling or milling only if needed – and only with your consent. Hardware (new cylinder) is never silently included in the opening price.

What the phone call does

We map your case to the table (slam-lock/locked, day/night) and give ETA. The website amount is the fixed price. Only for extras (high-security, multi-point, drilling) do we state a different fixed amount first – no renegotiation on site.

Standards-compliant parts

Parts to DIN / EN and police guidance (K-Einbruch) – for replacement or retrofit.

Profile cylinder – DIN EN 1303 / DIN 18252

Euro profile, A/B lengths, M5 forend screw. Police guidance: drill protection required; attack resistance A preferably B (without pull protection) or C preferably D (with pull protection). Class 0 is unsuitable for burglary resistance. Standard replacement typically €25–50; higher / VdS grades quoted first.

Security furniture – DIN 18257 (min. ES 1 ZA)

Police recommendation: at least ES 1 with cylinder cover (ZA = pull protection). ES 2 for higher demand. Without ZA, pull protection must be in the cylinder (class C/D). Install/retrofit: separate fixed quote – not the opening table automatic price.

Mortise lock – DIN 18251 / DIN EN 12209

PZ mortise lock with latch + deadbolt. Interchangeability via backset and centres (apartments often 55/60 mm and 72 mm). For entrance doors prefer higher EN 12209 classes; replace only if damaged or for a planned upgrade.

Strike plate – matching lock / DIN EN 12209

Counterpart in the frame for latch and bolt. Must match bolt throw and lock; reinforced plates improve lever resistance. Replace only if damaged or when retrofitting – not with every opening.

Optional: multi-point locking – DIN 18251

Several locking points (top/middle/bottom). More labour and material – no website automatic price; fixed quote before install.

Optional: retrofit – DIN 18104-1

Surface-mounted burglary-resistant products: cross-bar locks, auxiliary locks, hinge-side protection. Police: secure handle and hinge side; at least one lockable device. Fixed quote first.

Optional: VdS 2156 (A / AZ / B / BZ / BZ+)

Extra recognition beyond DIN – relevant for insurers and higher demand. BZ = medium burglary resistance with integrated pull protection. Not mandatory for every standard apartment; surcharge before install.

Overview of norm-compliant parts: cylinder, security furniture, mortise lock, optional retrofit
Replacement stack per DIN/police guidance: cylinder · ES1 ZA furniture · lock + strike · optional DIN 18104 / VdS.
Profile cylinder dimensions A outside and B inside, example 30/35 mm
Cylinder A/B (DIN 18252): from fixing-screw centre outside/inside. Apartments often 30/30–35/40, 5 mm steps.
Mortise lock with backset and centres, latch and deadbolt
Mortise lock DIN 18251: backset typically 55/60 mm, centres often 72 mm (apartment) or 92 mm.
Strike plate in the frame as counterpart to latch and deadbolt
Strike plate in the frame – must match latch, bolt and lock (DIN EN 12209 / DIN 18251).
Security furniture ES1/ES2 with cylinder cover and max 3 mm protrusion
Security furniture DIN 18257 ES1/ES2 ZA: max. about 3 mm protrusion outside – more invites snap/pull attack.

Standards at a glance

  • DIN EN 1303 / DIN 18252 – cylinders: dimensions, drill protection, attack resistance 0 / A–D (police: A/B or C/D)
  • DIN 18257 – security furniture ES 0–ES 3; recommendation min. ES 1 ZA
  • DIN 18251 – mortise locks and multi-point locks (dimensional interchangeability)
  • DIN EN 12209 – mechanical locks and strike plates (performance classes)
  • DIN 18104-1 – surface-mounted retrofit products (cross-bar, auxiliary lock, hinge side)
  • DIN EN 1627 – resistance classes of complete door sets (RC)
  • VdS 2156 – additional cylinder grades A / AZ / B / BZ / BZ+ (insurers)
