Lock change when tenants change – Ditzingen

When tenants change in Ditzingen (71254), nobody knows exactly how many keys the previous tenant had. A new cylinder solves this: old keys no longer lock, new keys go to the right people. ikeytz comes to you as a mobile service, and you get a fixed price in advance.

Is the door open? Is it about moving in or moving out? Is the cylinder part of the building’s master key system? With these three answers we can tell you the fixed price and roughly when we will arrive in Ditzingen.

ikeytz has no shop and comes to you in Ditzingen, about 12.6 km as the crow flies from the ikeytz office in Adalbert-Stifter-Straße. For a planned cylinder change when tenants move, we agree the day and time with you. We cover neighbouring places such as Gerlingen and Korntal-Münchingen in the same way. Tell us the district: Ditzingen, Hirschlanden, Heimerdingen or Schöckingen.

Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If the cylinder is part of a master key system, it is not a standard case: we then quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Friday, 1 pm, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. Friday, 1 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. Friday, 6:30 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

We measure the cylinder inside and outside, choose the right length, pull out the old cylinder and fit the new one. Then you test every new key yourself. You get the old cylinder back in case the landlord wants it back when you move out.

Single cylinder: one key for one door. Keyed alike: one key for several of your own doors, such as the front door and the garage. Master key system: different keys, but they all open the shared front door. When tenants change, we usually replace the single cylinder of the flat door.

If the landlord changes the cylinder between two tenants, the landlord usually pays. If the new tenant has it changed by choice, the tenant usually pays and keeps the old cylinder for moving out. With a master key system, a single swap without permission is not a good idea. Sort this out briefly, and there will be no dispute later.

Agree with the landlord beforehand who pays and who gets the old cylinder. Write down who receives which new keys. A cylinder that is too long sticks out on the outside and is easier to attack; we choose the right length.

Write down who gets which new key. If agreed, give the landlord a key for emergencies. Label the old cylinder and keep it. The invoice belongs with your rental documents.
