Lock change when tenants change – Möglingen

Are you taking over a flat in Möglingen or handing one back? Then a new lock cylinder is the simplest step, so nobody can get in with an old key. We change it at your open door, usually without leaving marks on the door fittings.

Is the door open? Is it about moving in or moving out? Is the cylinder part of the building’s master key system? With these three answers we can tell you the fixed price and roughly when we will arrive in Möglingen.

Many handovers in Möglingen take place at a fixed appointment with the landlord or the property management. The cylinder change fits in well straight afterwards: all old keys have been counted, and the new ones go straight to the new tenant. There you typically find estate houses built between 1960 and 2000 and a few old farmsteads on the through road. Tell us the street and a cross street; that saves searching.

Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If the cylinder is part of a master key system, it is not a standard case: we then quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Monday, 11 am, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. Monday, 7 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Saturday, 8 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

We measure the cylinder inside and outside, choose the right length, pull out the old cylinder and fit the new one. Then you test every new key yourself. You get the old cylinder back in case the landlord wants it back when you move out.

A euro profile cylinder has two measurements: from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside and to the inside, for example 30/35 mm. If it sticks out more than a few millimetres on the outside, it is easier to snap off. If it is too short, the key does not engage well. That is why we measure on site and bring suitable lengths with us.

The cylinder fitted in your door usually belongs to the landlord. As a tenant, you can often swap it for your own, as long as you keep the old one safe and have it put back when you move out. With a master key system, the owner decides, because a swap can affect everyone in the building. If in doubt, talk to the property management first. ikeytz does not give legal advice, but we only change a cylinder when it is clear who is placing the order.

Agree with the landlord beforehand who pays and who gets the old cylinder. Write down who receives which new keys. A cylinder that is too long sticks out on the outside and is easier to attack; we choose the right length.

Write down who gets which new key. If agreed, give the landlord a key for emergencies. Label the old cylinder and keep it. The invoice belongs with your rental documents.
