Lock change when tenants change – Tamm

Are you taking over a flat in Tamm or handing one back? Then a new lock cylinder is the simplest step, so nobody can get in with an old key. We change it at your open door, usually without leaving marks on the door fittings.

Is the door open? Is it about moving in or moving out? Is the cylinder part of the building’s master key system? With these three answers we can tell you the fixed price and roughly when we will arrive in Tamm.

Tamm lies between Ludwigsburg and Bietigheim on the high ground, on the S-Bahn and the B27. There you typically find terraced houses and 1970s multi-storey buildings near the S-Bahn stop. When one tenant moves out and another moves in, a handover appointment is often already arranged; tell us when it is, and we will plan the trip to fit. With multi-storey buildings, please tell us the entrance and the floor.

Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If the cylinder is part of a master key system, it is not a standard case: we then quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Saturday, 10 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Tuesday, 10:30 am, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. Tuesday, 8:30 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

We measure the cylinder inside and outside, choose the right length, pull out the old cylinder and fit the new one. Then you test every new key yourself. You get the old cylinder back in case the landlord wants it back when you move out.

Single cylinder: one key for one door. Keyed alike: one key for several of your own doors, such as the front door and the garage. Master key system: different keys, but they all open the shared front door. When tenants change, we usually replace the single cylinder of the flat door.

If the landlord changes the cylinder between two tenants, the landlord usually pays. If the new tenant has it changed by choice, the tenant usually pays and keeps the old cylinder for moving out. With a master key system, a single swap without permission is not a good idea. Sort this out briefly, and there will be no dispute later.

Just having one more spare key cut, even though it is unclear who else has keys. Buying a cylinder at a DIY store without measuring the length. Throwing away the old cylinder, even though it belongs to the landlord.

Only give new keys to people who really need one. Have extra keys cut from the original. Put the old cylinder in a bag with the date, in case it has to go back in when you move out.
