Why the change should not wait until tomorrow

At night, a door that has slammed shut can usually be opened without damage. Sometimes, however, that does not work, and drilling is necessary. This only happens with your yes. Afterwards, the old cylinder is almost always unusable. The door can then no longer be locked. Nobody wants to spend the night like that. So in this case the new cylinder is fitted straight away, so that you can sleep safely again.

When someone else still has a key

Checking the new keys in good light

In a dark hallway, it is easy to miss something. After the fitting, switch on the light and try every new key. Lock once from the outside and once from the inside. Make sure the key turns easily and comes out again without force. If you notice anything, say so immediately while we are still there. The next morning this is more difficult, and you will not want to be standing outside the door again.

Handing out family keys in the morning

If the children are already asleep, put their new keys where they can see them on the breakfast table. Otherwise they will take the old key to school in the morning and, at lunchtime, stand in front of a door it no longer fits. Also send a short message that same night to grandparents or anyone else who has a key. You can then bring them the new key over the next few days.

At the weekend, no shop is open

If the door slams shut on a Saturday evening or a Sunday, shops selling locks are usually closed. Anyone who wants to get a cylinder themselves after the opening often has to wait until Monday. During that time the door may only be pulled shut. Fitting on the same visit saves you this gap. Whether you want that is up to you.
