A single letterbox on a house, or a bank of letterboxes in a block of flats? Is there still a key? Should a new lock be fitted? With this information we can tell you the price.

Ludwigsburg-Mitte lies around the palace, the market square and Wilhelmstraße, on the high ground above the Neckar. There you typically find old buildings with a courtyard gate and post-war buildings set back behind them. In blocks of flats the letterboxes often hang inside in the hallway; then we need to get into the building. With old buildings with a courtyard gate, please tell us whether the gate is open or whether we need to ring.

There is no list price for letterboxes. We tell you a fixed price on the phone before we set off. No ‘from’ price, no surprises on site.

Check the name and your ID, open the letterbox, if possible without bending the flap. If you wish, a new lock with two keys.

Most letterboxes have a small lever lock or a mini cylinder that turns a bolt. Replacement locks come in many lengths and shapes. We measure beforehand so that the new lock fits and the flap closes tightly.

We only open letterboxes for the person whose name is on them, or with written authorisation. The privacy of correspondence applies to us too. Have your ID card or passport ready.

If there is an official letter with a deadline in the letterbox, tell us. Then we look for an early appointment. Deadlines often start when the letter is delivered to the letterbox, not when you read it; so it is worth not waiting long. Please clarify legal questions about this with the relevant authority.

Banks of letterboxes often belong to the landlord. A new lock should match the unit; we check this in advance.

Keep a second key in your flat. If a new lock is fitted, give the property management a key if they want one.
