Material and complications

These are not night or weekend charges. Time-based charges = time of day (night, weekend, public holiday). Material and difficult technical work are extra – agreed on the phone beforehand.

Standard euro profile cylinder typically 25–50 €. Security or VdS-approved cylinder: extra cost typically 25–70 € – fixed before fitting.

Long call-out outside the service area, multi-point locking, high-security cylinders, drilling or other opening methods that cause damage: a separate fixed price before we carry on – no renegotiation on site.

Material means parts that stay with you after the job: a new cylinder, a security door plate, a strike plate for the frame or a lock. A standard cylinder typically costs 25–50 €. A security cylinder typically costs 25–70 € more.

A complication (Erschwernis) makes the work much more involved than with a normal flat door. Examples are locked multi-point locking, a specially protected cylinder, an opening that requires drilling, or a job outside our service area. For these we give you a fixed amount beforehand.

Whether it is day or night only changes the price of the opening. Material doesn’t cost more at night than during the day. And a complication is not a night surcharge; it depends only on the door.

Tuesday, 10 am, door slammed shut, key inside: 99 €. Sunday, door locked, key lost, new standard cylinder on the same trip: 228 € plus material, typically 25–50 €. Saturday, front door with locked multi-point locking: fixed amount on the phone beforehand.

You should know what it costs before we set off. That is why we ask about the door, the lock and the situation on the phone. If something turns out differently on site, we tell you the new amount before we carry on. Without your yes we don’t continue.

If we bring the material, it usually fits your door, because we ask for the measurements on the phone. If you have already bought a cylinder yourself, tell us beforehand. Then we check on site whether the length and type fit before we fit it.

On the invoice you will find up to four kinds of item. The opening is the work on the closed door. Fitting means installing a part, for example a cylinder directly after the opening. Material is the parts that stay with you. An item for extra difficulty (Erschwernis) only appears where the door required considerably more effort and we told you the amount beforehand.

If the door is open and you only want the cylinder changed, it costs 89 € during the day with a standard cylinder. If you choose a security cylinder, the extra charge of typically 25–70 € is added. After a door opening, it is different: there you pay 49 € for the fitting plus the full material, so typically 25–50 € for a standard cylinder. Ask on the phone which version suits your door.

After a break-in, call the police on 110 first. Do not change anything on the door until the evidence has been recorded. After that, emergency securing may be needed so that your home is locked overnight. It is not on the price list because every kind of damage looks different; you learn the price before work begins. Keep the damaged cylinder. Ask your insurance company whether they would like to see it.

Our service area covers 52 towns, villages and districts in the district of Ludwigsburg (Landkreis Ludwigsburg). Within it, the call-out is included in the price. If you live further away, we will still come out in many cases. We then agree a fixed amount for the whole job on the phone before we set off. So tell us the exact location right at the start, even if it is only just across the boundary.

A door with multi-point locking that is locked is secured at several points in the frame. To open it, moving just one bolt is not enough. All the bolts have to be drawn back together via the main lock. This takes more time, more experience and often different tools. That is why this door is not on the price list. It is not an arbitrary surcharge, but depends on the way the door is built.

Some customers ask for the cheapest cylinder in order to save money. That can make sense, for example for a basement, a garage or a garden shed. On a flat door or the front door of a house, it is worth looking at the protection. A simple cylinder is easier to overcome, and it often has no security card for ordering new keys. The difference in price is modest compared with what lies behind the door.
