Lock change when tenants change – 71720

When tenants change in Oberstenfeld (71720), nobody knows exactly how many keys the previous tenant had. A new cylinder solves this: old keys no longer lock, new keys go to the right people. ikeytz comes to you as a mobile service, and you get a fixed price in advance.

Briefly clarify who is ordering the change: the tenant, the landlord or the property management. Check whether the door has a single cylinder or whether the key also locks the front door and the cellar. If so, it is often a master key system (Schließanlage), and we quote a separate fixed price for that.

ikeytz has no shop and comes to you in Oberstenfeld, about 17.8 km as the crow flies from the ikeytz office in Adalbert-Stifter-Straße. For a planned cylinder change when tenants move, we agree the day and time with you. We cover neighbouring places such as Großbottwar and Steinheim an der Murr in the same way. Tell us the village: main village, Gronau or Prevorst; the distances between them are long.

With the door open, it is a simple cylinder change. Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. No ‘from’ price, no call-out fee within the service area.

Monday, 4 pm, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. Monday, 7 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Saturday, 3 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

We measure the cylinder inside and outside, choose the right length, pull out the old cylinder and fit the new one. Then you test every new key yourself. You get the old cylinder back in case the landlord wants it back when you move out.

A euro profile cylinder has two measurements: from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside and to the inside, for example 30/35 mm. If it sticks out more than a few millimetres on the outside, it is easier to snap off. If it is too short, the key does not engage well. That is why we measure on site and bring suitable lengths with us.

The cylinder fitted in your door usually belongs to the landlord. As a tenant, you can often swap it for your own, as long as you keep the old one safe and have it put back when you move out. With a master key system, the owner decides, because a swap can affect everyone in the building. If in doubt, talk to the property management first. ikeytz does not give legal advice, but we only change a cylinder when it is clear who is placing the order.

Just having one more spare key cut, even though it is unclear who else has keys. Buying a cylinder at a DIY store without measuring the length. Throwing away the old cylinder, even though it belongs to the landlord.

Only give new keys to people who really need one. Have extra keys cut from the original. Put the old cylinder in a bag with the date, in case it has to go back in when you move out.
