Lock change when tenants change – Besigheim

When tenants change in Besigheim (74354), nobody knows exactly how many keys the previous tenant had. A new cylinder solves this: old keys no longer lock, new keys go to the right people. ikeytz comes to you as a mobile service, and you get a fixed price in advance.

Is the door open? Is it about moving in or moving out? Is the cylinder part of the building’s master key system? With these three answers we can tell you the fixed price and roughly when we will arrive in Besigheim.

Besigheim lies where the Enz flows into the Neckar, with an old town on the spur between the two rivers. There you typically find heavy wooden doors in narrow old-town lanes and 1970s estate houses on the edge. When one tenant moves out and another moves in, a handover appointment is often already arranged; tell us when it is, and we will plan the trip to fit. In the old town there is hardly anywhere to stop. Tell us where a vehicle can park nearby.

With the door open, it is a simple cylinder change. Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. No ‘from’ price, no call-out fee within the service area.

Saturday, 3 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Monday, 7 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Monday, 4 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

We measure the cylinder inside and outside, choose the right length, pull out the old cylinder and fit the new one. Then you test every new key yourself. You get the old cylinder back in case the landlord wants it back when you move out.

A euro profile cylinder has two measurements: from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside and to the inside, for example 30/35 mm. If it sticks out more than a few millimetres on the outside, it is easier to snap off. If it is too short, the key does not engage well. That is why we measure on site and bring suitable lengths with us.

If the landlord changes the cylinder between two tenants, the landlord usually pays. If the new tenant has it changed by choice, the tenant usually pays and keeps the old cylinder for moving out. With a master key system, a single swap without permission is not a good idea. Sort this out briefly, and there will be no dispute later.

Agree with the landlord beforehand who pays and who gets the old cylinder. Write down who receives which new keys. A cylinder that is too long sticks out on the outside and is easier to attack; we choose the right length.

Only give new keys to people who really need one. Have extra keys cut from the original. Put the old cylinder in a bag with the date, in case it has to go back in when you move out.
