Lock change after a break-in – Bietigheim-Bissingen

If you want to sleep peacefully again after a break-in in Bietigheim-Bissingen, you need a door that locks securely. We change the cylinder, look at the lock, the strike plate and the door plate, and tell you clearly what is covered by the fixed price and what is a separate job.

1. Call the police on 110. 2. Do not change anything until the evidence has been secured. 3. Photograph the damage and inform your insurance. 4. Call us: we tell you on the phone whether a cylinder change is enough or whether the door has to be secured first.

Bietigheim-Bissingen lies on the Enz between Ludwigsburg, Tamm and Besigheim, with Bietigheim by the viaduct and Bissingen just north of it. There you typically find half-timbered houses in the old town and estates behind the viaduct. After a break-in we first check whether only the cylinder is broken, or also the lock, the strike plate or the frame. Tell us whether it is Bietigheim or Bissingen; many street names are only known in one part.

Fixed: the cylinder change with the door open, 89 € or 119 €. Extra for a security cylinder: typically 25–70 €. Not on the list: emergency securing and damage to the door or frame. For these we quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Tuesday, 2:30 pm, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. Tuesday, 8:30 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Saturday, 8 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

We check the cylinder, lock, strike plate and door plate. If only the cylinder is broken, we change it. If more is damaged, we tell you in advance what it costs on top, and you decide. At the end, the door locks securely again.

A cylinder that sticks out is often snapped off or pulled out with tools. Security cylinders have a protected breaking point or a reinforced design to prevent this. A security door plate covers the cylinder, so there is hardly anything left to attack.

You need the police report for your insurance. Depending on your policy, home contents insurance covers stolen items and damage; in rented flats, the door itself is often a matter for the landlord’s buildings insurance. So tell the landlord as well. Keep photos, the police report and invoices together.

Take photos for the insurance before anything is changed. Keep the invoice. A security door plate that covers the cylinder makes snapping it off harder.

Many people feel uneasy after a burglary. A door that locks properly again helps. Talking to family or to a victim support service helps too.
