Lock change after a lost key – 71711

Your bunch of keys is gone, but the door in Murr/Steinheim still opens because someone has a spare key. Now is the right time for a new cylinder. We tell you the price in advance and come to you as a mobile service.

Think about what else was on the key ring: front door, car, office, letterbox? Was your name or address on it? If so, the cylinder should be changed soon. If you rent and the key is part of a master key system, inform your landlord.

We come to you in Murr/Steinheim, about 10.2 km as the crow flies from the ikeytz office in Adalbert-Stifter-Straße. If you can still get in, it is a planned cylinder change. If you are locked out, we open the door first and then fit the new cylinder in the same trip. Tell us whether it is Murr, Steinheim or Höpfigheim.

If you can still get in: Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If you are locked out: opening and a new cylinder in one trip cost 148 € / 198 € (slammed shut) or 178 € / 228 € (locked), cylinder material typically 25–50 €.

Saturday, 3 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Friday, 6:30 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Friday, 4 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

If you are inside, it is a simple swap: old cylinder out, new one in, test the lock. If you are outside, we first open the door without damage, if the door allows it, and then change the cylinder.

The new cylinder has the same length as the old one, unless the old one stuck out too far. Then we choose a shorter one. The locking is new, and old keys no longer fit. If you want more protection, choose a security cylinder with a card.

If your key belongs to a master key system, losing it can affect the whole building. Tell the landlord or the property management. They decide whether only your cylinder or the whole system is changed. The cost for a system can be high; many personal liability insurance policies have a separate add-on for this. A single flat cylinder, on the other hand, is a standard case with a fixed price.

Waiting, even though your address and key were lost together. Only thinking about the lock on the flat door, but forgetting the garage or letterbox. Sending someone out without a fixed price.

A spare key with family or neighbours saves money next time. With security cylinders, keep the security card separate from the key.
