Lock change after a lost key – 71726

A lost key is a risk if it went missing together with your address, for example with your ID card in your wallet. In Benningen am Neckar (71726) we then change the lock cylinder so that the old key no longer fits.

Quickly check the usual places and ask at the local lost property office (Fundbüro). If the key is really gone, call us. Tell us whether you can still get into the flat; the price depends on it.

In Benningen am Neckar you typically find estate houses near the S-Bahn and houses in the small old centre. Tell us whether the lost key also locks other doors; then we can plan for that straight away. Tell us whether you live near the S-Bahn or in the newer areas on the slope.

If you can still get in: Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If you are locked out: opening and a new cylinder in one trip cost 148 € / 198 € (slammed shut) or 178 € / 228 € (locked), cylinder material typically 25–50 €.

Friday, 2:30 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. Friday, 2:30 pm, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. Friday, 6:30 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

If you are inside, it is a simple swap: old cylinder out, new one in, test the lock. If you are outside, we first open the door without damage, if the door allows it, and then change the cylinder.

The new cylinder has the same length as the old one, unless the old one stuck out too far. Then we choose a shorter one. The locking is new, and old keys no longer fit. If you want more protection, choose a security cylinder with a card.

If your key belongs to a master key system, losing it can affect the whole building. Tell the landlord or the property management. They decide whether only your cylinder or the whole system is changed. The cost for a system can be high; many personal liability insurance policies have a separate add-on for this. A single flat cylinder, on the other hand, is a standard case with a fixed price.

Waiting, even though your address and key were lost together. Only thinking about the lock on the flat door, but forgetting the garage or letterbox. Sending someone out without a fixed price.

Carry your new keys without an address tag. Keep a spare key with someone you trust. Keep the invoice for your insurance.
