Lock change when tenants change – 74379

New flat in Ingersheim, or just moved out? When tenants change, the old keys should no longer fit. ikeytz changes the euro profile cylinder of the flat door for this. The door is open, nothing gets broken. We tell you the fixed price on the phone before anyone sets off.

Is the door open? Is it about moving in or moving out? Is the cylinder part of the building’s master key system? With these three answers we can tell you the fixed price and roughly when we will arrive in Ingersheim.

Ingersheim lies on the Neckar between Freiberg, Pleidelsheim and Bietigheim, made up of Großingersheim and Kleiningersheim. There you typically find houses in lower-lying Großingersheim and in higher-lying Kleiningersheim. When one tenant moves out and another moves in, a handover appointment is often already arranged; tell us when it is, and we will plan the trip to fit. Tell us whether it is Großingersheim or Kleiningersheim.

With the door open, it is a simple cylinder change. Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. No ‘from’ price, no call-out fee within the service area.

Saturday, 10 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Wednesday, 10 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Wednesday, 1 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

First we check the size and the door fittings. Then we swap the cylinder, test the lock several times and hand over the new keys. If you are a tenant, keep the old cylinder: when you move out, the original condition is often expected.

A euro profile cylinder has two measurements: from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside and to the inside, for example 30/35 mm. If it sticks out more than a few millimetres on the outside, it is easier to snap off. If it is too short, the key does not engage well. That is why we measure on site and bring suitable lengths with us.

The cylinder fitted in your door usually belongs to the landlord. As a tenant, you can often swap it for your own, as long as you keep the old one safe and have it put back when you move out. With a master key system, the owner decides, because a swap can affect everyone in the building. If in doubt, talk to the property management first. ikeytz does not give legal advice, but we only change a cylinder when it is clear who is placing the order.

Agree with the landlord beforehand who pays and who gets the old cylinder. Write down who receives which new keys. A cylinder that is too long sticks out on the outside and is easier to attack; we choose the right length.

Only give new keys to people who really need one. Have extra keys cut from the original. Put the old cylinder in a bag with the date, in case it has to go back in when you move out.
