Lock change after a lost key – Erligheim

If you are inside, it is a simple swap: old cylinder out, new one in, test the lock. If you are outside, we first open the door without damage, if the door allows it, and then change the cylinder.

After losing a key, a new euro profile cylinder is almost always enough. The mortice lock in the door stays, because the key only operates the cylinder. We only replace the whole lock if it is damaged. This saves money and time.

If your key belongs to a master key system, losing it can affect the whole building. Tell the landlord or the property management. They decide whether only your cylinder or the whole system is changed. The cost for a system can be high; many personal liability insurance policies have a separate add-on for this. A single flat cylinder, on the other hand, is a standard case with a fixed price.
