Lock change after a lost key – 74372

Your bunch of keys is gone, but the door in Sersheim still opens because someone has a spare key. Now is the right time for a new cylinder. We tell you the price in advance and come to you as a mobile service.

Think about what else was on the key ring: front door, car, office, letterbox? Was your name or address on it? If so, the cylinder should be changed soon. If you rent and the key is part of a master key system, inform your landlord.

Sersheim lies on the Enz between Sachsenheim, Vaihingen and Oberriexingen, on the railway line. There you typically find houses near the tracks and at the edge of the fields. After a key loss we usually only change the cylinder of the flat door or the front door. At the edge of the fields, directions from the main road help.

If you can still get in: Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If you are locked out: opening and a new cylinder in one trip cost 148 € / 198 € (slammed shut) or 178 € / 228 € (locked), cylinder material typically 25–50 €.

Saturday, 10 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Wednesday, 1 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. Wednesday, 1 pm, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

We check which cylinder is fitted, measure the length and fit a new one. You test the new keys yourself. You can have more keys cut later; with security profiles this is only possible with the security card.

The new cylinder has the same length as the old one, unless the old one stuck out too far. Then we choose a shorter one. The locking is new, and old keys no longer fit. If you want more protection, choose a security cylinder with a card.

If your key belongs to a master key system, losing it can affect the whole building. Tell the landlord or the property management. They decide whether only your cylinder or the whole system is changed. The cost for a system can be high; many personal liability insurance policies have a separate add-on for this. A single flat cylinder, on the other hand, is a standard case with a fixed price.

Check whether your liability or home contents insurance covers key loss before you have a master key system changed. Keep the invoice.

A spare key with family or neighbours saves money next time. With security cylinders, keep the security card separate from the key.
