Lock change when tenants change – Freiberg am Neckar

Are you taking over a flat in Freiberg am Neckar or handing one back? Then a new lock cylinder is the simplest step, so nobody can get in with an old key. We change it at your open door, usually without leaving marks on the door fittings.

Is the door open? Is it about moving in or moving out? Is the cylinder part of the building’s master key system? With these three answers we can tell you the fixed price and roughly when we will arrive in Freiberg am Neckar.

ikeytz has no shop and comes to you in Freiberg am Neckar, about 6.6 km as the crow flies from the ikeytz office in Adalbert-Stifter-Straße. For a planned cylinder change when tenants move, we agree the day and time with you. We cover neighbouring places such as Pleidelsheim and Hoheneck in the same way. Tell us whether it is Beihingen, Heutingsheim or Geisingen; the house number alone is often not enough.

With the door open, it is a simple cylinder change. Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. No ‘from’ price, no call-out fee within the service area.

Wednesday, 2:30 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. Wednesday, 2:30 pm, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. Saturday, 12 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

First we check the size and the door fittings. Then we swap the cylinder, test the lock several times and hand over the new keys. If you are a tenant, keep the old cylinder: when you move out, the original condition is often expected.

A euro profile cylinder has two measurements: from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside and to the inside, for example 30/35 mm. If it sticks out more than a few millimetres on the outside, it is easier to snap off. If it is too short, the key does not engage well. That is why we measure on site and bring suitable lengths with us.

If the landlord changes the cylinder between two tenants, the landlord usually pays. If the new tenant has it changed by choice, the tenant usually pays and keeps the old cylinder for moving out. With a master key system, a single swap without permission is not a good idea. Sort this out briefly, and there will be no dispute later.

Just having one more spare key cut, even though it is unclear who else has keys. Buying a cylinder at a DIY store without measuring the length. Throwing away the old cylinder, even though it belongs to the landlord.

Write down who gets which new key. If agreed, give the landlord a key for emergencies. Label the old cylinder and keep it. The invoice belongs with your rental documents.
