Lock change when tenants change – 71691

New flat in Freiberg am Neckar, or just moved out? When tenants change, the old keys should no longer fit. ikeytz changes the euro profile cylinder of the flat door for this. The door is open, nothing gets broken. We tell you the fixed price on the phone before anyone sets off.

Briefly clarify who is ordering the change: the tenant, the landlord or the property management. Check whether the door has a single cylinder or whether the key also locks the front door and the cellar. If so, it is often a master key system (Schließanlage), and we quote a separate fixed price for that.

Freiberg am Neckar lies on the Neckar north of Ludwigsburg, made up of Beihingen, Heutingsheim and Geisingen. There you typically find houses in the three old village centres and commuter estates near the railway and the B27. When one tenant moves out and another moves in, a handover appointment is often already arranged; tell us when it is, and we will plan the trip to fit. Tell us whether it is Beihingen, Heutingsheim or Geisingen; the house number alone is often not enough.

Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If the cylinder is part of a master key system, it is not a standard case: we then quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Monday, 2:30 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. Saturday, 12 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Monday, 7 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

We measure the cylinder inside and outside, choose the right length, pull out the old cylinder and fit the new one. Then you test every new key yourself. You get the old cylinder back in case the landlord wants it back when you move out.

Single cylinder: one key for one door. Keyed alike: one key for several of your own doors, such as the front door and the garage. Master key system: different keys, but they all open the shared front door. When tenants change, we usually replace the single cylinder of the flat door.

The cylinder fitted in your door usually belongs to the landlord. As a tenant, you can often swap it for your own, as long as you keep the old one safe and have it put back when you move out. With a master key system, the owner decides, because a swap can affect everyone in the building. If in doubt, talk to the property management first. ikeytz does not give legal advice, but we only change a cylinder when it is clear who is placing the order.

Agree with the landlord beforehand who pays and who gets the old cylinder. Write down who receives which new keys. A cylinder that is too long sticks out on the outside and is easier to attack; we choose the right length.

Only give new keys to people who really need one. Have extra keys cut from the original. Put the old cylinder in a bag with the date, in case it has to go back in when you move out.
