Lock change after a break-in – Freiberg am Neckar

After a break-in in Freiberg am Neckar, the door often no longer closes properly, or the cylinder is damaged. Once the police have finished, we change the cylinder and check whether the lock and the door plate still hold. We tell you the price in advance.

Call 110 first. If possible, do not touch the door, the cylinder or the door plate until the evidence has been secured. Take photos of the damage for the insurance. Only then do we change the cylinder.

Whether in Freiberg am Neckar, Pleidelsheim or Hoheneck: after a break-in, what matters is a door that locks properly again. In Freiberg am Neckar you typically find houses in the three old village centres and commuter estates near the railway and the B27. We pay attention to the cylinder length and the door plate so that the new cylinder is not easy to attack again. Tell us whether it is Beihingen, Heutingsheim or Geisingen; the house number alone is often not enough.

Fixed: the cylinder change with the door open, 89 € or 119 €. Extra for a security cylinder: typically 25–70 €. Not on the list: emergency securing and damage to the door or frame. For these we quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Thursday, 9 am, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. Saturday, 12 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Thursday, 9 am, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

First we look: does the lock still hold, is the strike plate in place, is the door plate firm? Then we fit the right cylinder, a security cylinder if needed. Any extra work only after you say yes to the fixed price.

A cylinder that sticks out is often snapped off or pulled out with tools. Security cylinders have a protected breaking point or a reinforced design to prevent this. A security door plate covers the cylinder, so there is hardly anything left to attack.

That depends on your policy and your living situation. Owners report the damage to their insurer. Tenants report it to the landlord and to their own home contents insurance. We issue an invoice listing every item, which you can submit. Please take legal questions to your insurer or an advice service.

Take photos for the insurance before anything is changed. Keep the invoice. A security door plate that covers the cylinder makes snapping it off harder.

Check your windows and balcony door; they are often attacked too. Get free advice on burglary protection from the police. A security door plate is a useful addition.
