Lock change when tenants change – Vaihingen an der Enz

New flat in Vaihingen an der Enz, or just moved out? When tenants change, the old keys should no longer fit. ikeytz changes the euro profile cylinder of the flat door for this. The door is open, nothing gets broken. We tell you the fixed price on the phone before anyone sets off.

Briefly clarify who is ordering the change: the tenant, the landlord or the property management. Check whether the door has a single cylinder or whether the key also locks the front door and the cellar. If so, it is often a master key system (Schließanlage), and we quote a separate fixed price for that.

Vaihingen an der Enz lies in the west of the district on the Enz, below Kaltenstein Castle (not Stuttgart-Vaihingen). There you typically find houses in the old-town lanes and in districts such as Ensingen, Gündelbach or Riet. When one tenant moves out and another moves in, a handover appointment is often already arranged; tell us when it is, and we will plan the trip to fit. Tell us the district. Vaihingen an der Enz is not Stuttgart-Vaihingen.

Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If the cylinder is part of a master key system, it is not a standard case: we then quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Thursday, 2:30 pm, locked out, slammed shut, new cylinder: 148 € plus material. Saturday, 12 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Thursday, 2:30 pm, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

First we check the size and the door fittings. Then we swap the cylinder, test the lock several times and hand over the new keys. If you are a tenant, keep the old cylinder: when you move out, the original condition is often expected.

A euro profile cylinder has two measurements: from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside and to the inside, for example 30/35 mm. If it sticks out more than a few millimetres on the outside, it is easier to snap off. If it is too short, the key does not engage well. That is why we measure on site and bring suitable lengths with us.

If the landlord changes the cylinder between two tenants, the landlord usually pays. If the new tenant has it changed by choice, the tenant usually pays and keeps the old cylinder for moving out. With a master key system, a single swap without permission is not a good idea. Sort this out briefly, and there will be no dispute later.

Agree with the landlord beforehand who pays and who gets the old cylinder. Write down who receives which new keys. A cylinder that is too long sticks out on the outside and is easier to attack; we choose the right length.

Only give new keys to people who really need one. Have extra keys cut from the original. Put the old cylinder in a bag with the date, in case it has to go back in when you move out.
