Lock change after a break-in – Gemmrigheim

After a break-in in Gemmrigheim, the door often no longer closes properly, or the cylinder is damaged. Once the police have finished, we change the cylinder and check whether the lock and the door plate still hold. We tell you the price in advance.

Call 110 first. If possible, do not touch the door, the cylinder or the door plate until the evidence has been secured. Take photos of the damage for the insurance. Only then do we change the cylinder.

Gemmrigheim lies on the Neckar between Besigheim and Kirchheim, with vineyards above the river. There you typically find houses in the lower lanes by the river and new builds up on the slope. After a break-in we first check whether only the cylinder is broken, or also the lock, the strike plate or the frame. Tell us whether you live down by the Neckar or up in the new housing area.

Fixed: the cylinder change with the door open, 89 € or 119 €. Extra for a security cylinder: typically 25–70 €. Not on the list: emergency securing and damage to the door or frame. For these we quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Thursday, 11:15 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Thursday, 11 am, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. Saturday, 8 am, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

First we look: does the lock still hold, is the strike plate in place, is the door plate firm? Then we fit the right cylinder, a security cylinder if needed. Any extra work only after you say yes to the fixed price.

When a door is levered open, the strike plate in the frame often gives way. Then a new cylinder is not enough. A reinforced strike plate with long screws into the masonry is a separate job with its own fixed price.

That depends on your policy and your living situation. Owners report the damage to their insurer. Tenants report it to the landlord and to their own home contents insurance. We issue an invoice listing every item, which you can submit. Please take legal questions to your insurer or an advice service.

Take photos for the insurance before anything is changed. Keep the invoice. A security door plate that covers the cylinder makes snapping it off harder.

Many people feel uneasy after a burglary. A door that locks properly again helps. Talking to family or to a victim support service helps too.
