You are outside your door in the district of Ludwigsburg and the cooker is still on? If you smell smoke or gas, call 112 straight away. If there are no signs of danger and you are just unsure, we open the door and tell you the price first.

Can you smell smoke or gas? Is a smoke alarm going off? Then call 112 and don’t go in yourself. If you smell gas, don’t press any doorbell and don’t switch on any light. Only call us if there are none of these signs.

If water is running in the flat, for example from the washing machine or the bath, tell the neighbours below and the property management. The main water tap in the basement can often be turned off. If a lot of water is running near electrics, call 112. Otherwise we open the door at a fixed price.

Many appliances switch themselves off these days. Candles and older appliances do not. If there is no smell of burning and no alarm can be heard, the situation is usually calm. If in doubt, call 112.

If there are animals in the flat and you fear danger from smoke or heat, call 112. If you simply want to get to your pet, we open the door at a fixed price.

If the fire brigade opened the door during a call-out, it sometimes no longer locks properly afterwards. Then we change the cylinder or secure the door. We tell you the price on the phone beforehand.

Smoke alarms beep briefly when the battery is low. Replace it straight away. A working alarm warns your neighbours when you are not at home, and in Baden-Württemberg it is required by law in bedrooms, children’s rooms and hallways.

If you smell gas, do not use doorbells, light switches or your mobile inside the building. If possible, open windows in the stairwell, warn your neighbours by knocking and leave the building. From outside, call 112 or your gas supplier’s emergency service.

If the fire brigade opened the flat, report any damage to your insurer. You can submit the invoice for a new cylinder or for securing the door. Whether the insurer pays depends on your policy.

If a neighbour has a spare key, that is the quickest way when you are worried about the cooker. Ask them only to look and not to touch anything if there is a smell of smoke or gas. In that case, call 112.

Switch off the cooker and other appliances, and air the flat if nothing dangerous is there. If food has burnt and there is smoke: open the windows, close the door, check the smoke alarm.
