An older person in the district of Ludwigsburg has locked themselves out, or your mother can’t get back into her flat? We open the door calmly and without damage. We tell you the price on the phone, so there are no surprises.
If there is danger, call 112 first
If someone inside the flat does not respond, has fallen or is calling for help, dial 112 straight away. In emergencies the fire brigade opens the door itself. We are there for cases where nobody is in danger.
For relatives who live far away
If you don’t live nearby, you can call on behalf of your parents. We agree the price with you and need a phone number for the person on site. If possible, ask a neighbour to stay with them until we arrive.
Emergency or key problem?
It is a key problem when the person is outside and doing fine. It is an emergency when someone inside does not answer, has fallen or needs help. Then call 112 first.
Price in the district of Ludwigsburg
Door opening, door slammed shut: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 99 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 149 €. Locked: 129 € or 179 €. No surcharge for older people, no call-out fee within the service area.
How it works
We explain beforehand what we will do. Then we open the door without damage. Afterwards we quickly check that the key and lock are fine, and we give you an invoice.
Slammed shut is the most common case
Older people often just pull the door shut when taking out the rubbish or emptying the letterbox. Then only the latch has clicked into place. We can usually open this without damage. A key left in the cylinder on the inside can make the work harder; tell us if it is there.
Key safe and home emergency call
If a care service comes regularly, a key safe on the wall is a help. With a home emergency call service (Hausnotruf) you can often leave a key. Both save valuable time in an emergency.
Trust and safety
Before we start work, we introduce ourselves by name, tell you the price and explain what we are doing. We check that the person lives there. Relatives are welcome to join on the phone at any time. Nobody has to sign anything they have not understood.
Checklist for relatives
The person’s name and address, a phone number on site, slammed shut or locked, any health problems, who is waiting at the door. In danger: 112. Otherwise call us, and we tell you the price.
Assisted living and care homes
In assisted living facilities, the management often has a master key. Ask there first. If nobody can be reached, we open the door if the person lives there and agrees.
If keys often get mislaid
If someone often mislays their key, a fixed hook next to the door, an eye-catching key tag or a key safe can help. If there are memory problems, talk to your GP or a care advice service about further help.
Be careful at the door
Do not let anyone in who rings unannounced and claims to be a tradesperson or locksmith. We only come if you or your relatives have called us. If in doubt, call the number you dialled yourself.
If the doorbell is not heard
Some older people find it hard to hear the doorbell or phone. Relatives can get a doorbell with a flashing light or a loud phone. When we arrive, we call the number you gave us on the phone.
Keys for relatives
A key with a relative or a neighbour is the best precaution. If your family lives further away, you can leave a key with someone you trust nearby.
What relatives can prepare
A list next to the phone helps: who has a spare key? Which number do you call if you are locked out? Which number in an emergency? A large, easy-to-read note is often worth more than a contact in a mobile phone.
Calm explanations
We explain every step in simple words and repeat the price before we start. Questions are welcome at any time. If someone is unsure, we wait until a relative is on the phone.
Beware of dubious offers
Don’t let anyone talk you into work you didn’t order. Always ask for the total price first. Don’t sign anything you don’t understand.
After opening
A spare key with neighbours or relatives helps next time. A key safe on the wall is an option if carers visit.
