Mundelsheim lies in a bend of the Neckar below the Käsberg, between Hessigheim and Pleidelsheim. There you typically find houses on narrow hillside streets, often with a second entrance on the valley side. Cellars in blocks of flats often have one shared door and individual storage units. Many hillside streets have no pavement. Tell us where we can stop.

If the door is built like a flat door: slammed shut Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 99 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 149 €; locked 129 € or 179 € respectively. Padlocks, storage units and special locks have no list price; for these we tell you a fixed price in advance.

Sunday, 8 am, locked: 179 €. Wednesday, 11 am, door slammed shut: 99 €. Wednesday, 11 am, locked: 129 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

Look at the door, confirm the price, open it. For shared doors we have a quick word with the property management if needed.

Many cellar doors have a mortice lock with a euro profile cylinder like a flat door, often with a fixed knob outside and a handle inside. Others are steel fire doors, and others are just slatted partitions with a padlock. Only the first type has a list price; for the others we tell you a fixed price in advance.

For your basement storage unit, your ID card or passport together with your tenancy agreement or the name on the unit is usually enough. If anything is unclear, we ask the property management.

Shared cellar door or your own storage unit? Cylinder or padlock? Does the caretaker or the property management have a key? Is there something urgent in the cellar, such as medication or tools for water damage? With this information we plan the appointment and the price.

Breaking open the shared cellar door even though the caretaker has a key. Opening a padlock with an angle grinder and damaging the hasp.

Valuables do not belong in the basement. A good padlock with a hardened shackle is not much effort.
