Briefly clarify who is ordering the change: the tenant, the landlord or the property management. Check whether the door has a single cylinder or whether the key also locks the front door and the cellar. If so, it is often a master key system (Schließanlage), and we quote a separate fixed price for that.

Many handovers in Tamm take place at a fixed appointment with the landlord or the property management. A euro profile cylinder has two measurements: from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside and to the inside, for example 30/35 mm. If it sticks out more than a few millimetres on the outside, it is easier to snap off. If it is too short, the key does not engage well. That is why we measure on site and bring suitable lengths with us.

The cylinder fitted in your door usually belongs to the landlord. As a tenant, you can often swap it for your own, as long as you keep the old one safe and have it put back when you move out. With a master key system, the owner decides, because a swap can affect everyone in the building.
