Lock change when tenants change – 71640

When tenants change in Oßweil (71640), nobody knows exactly how many keys the previous tenant had. A new cylinder solves this: old keys no longer lock, new keys go to the right people. ikeytz comes to you as a mobile service, and you get a fixed price in advance.

Is the door open? Is it about moving in or moving out? Is the cylinder part of the building’s master key system? With these three answers we can tell you the fixed price and roughly when we will arrive in Oßweil.

ikeytz has no shop and comes to you in Oßweil, about 1.8 km as the crow flies from the ikeytz office in Adalbert-Stifter-Straße. For a planned cylinder change when tenants move, we agree the day and time with you. We cover neighbouring places such as Schlößlesfeld and Grünbühl in the same way. Tell us the street and whether the door of the house or a garden gate in front of it is locked.

Cylinder change only, with the door open: Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm 89 €, Mon–Fri 6 pm–8 am, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 119 €. This includes travel, fitting and a standard euro profile cylinder. If the cylinder is part of a master key system, it is not a standard case: we then quote a separate fixed price in advance.

Thursday, 11:15 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Saturday, 3 pm, door open, cylinder only: 119 €. Thursday, 10:30 am, door open, cylinder only: 89 €. We confirm the exact amount by phone before we set off.

First we check the size and the door fittings. Then we swap the cylinder, test the lock several times and hand over the new keys. If you are a tenant, keep the old cylinder: when you move out, the original condition is often expected.

A euro profile cylinder has two measurements: from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside and to the inside, for example 30/35 mm. If it sticks out more than a few millimetres on the outside, it is easier to snap off. If it is too short, the key does not engage well. That is why we measure on site and bring suitable lengths with us.

If the landlord changes the cylinder between two tenants, the landlord usually pays. If the new tenant has it changed by choice, the tenant usually pays and keeps the old cylinder for moving out. With a master key system, a single swap without permission is not a good idea. Sort this out briefly, and there will be no dispute later.

Agree with the landlord beforehand who pays and who gets the old cylinder. Write down who receives which new keys. A cylinder that is too long sticks out on the outside and is easier to attack; we choose the right length.

Only give new keys to people who really need one. Have extra keys cut from the original. Put the old cylinder in a bag with the date, in case it has to go back in when you move out.
